Industrial hearing protection is a different category. On a manufacturing floor, you need a hearing protector with a published NRR and a fit you can verify. Some Loop models do list noise reduction figures, but that doesn't automatically make them a replacement for hearing protection designed and fit for a full work shift under OSHA. I'm not going to tell you Loop is garbage—that's not true. I will tell you to buy hearing protection by the NRR and the fit-testing program, not by the color.
If you need disposable foam earplugs, 3M E-A-R Classic has an NRR of 29 dB and a long record in industrial settings. It's not the only option, but it's a useful baseline.
Why does the cheapest 3M N95 respirator mask end up being the most expensive?
